Sangeh Monkey Forest
Bukit Sari Temple, also known as Puncak Sari Temple, is located in Sangeh Village, surrounded by a lush forest of nutmeg trees. The temple was built in the 17th century by the King of Mengwi. When entering this area, visitors are advised to be cautious and keep their belongings secure, as playful monkeys often roam freely around the forest. It remains a mystery how these monkeys first came to inhabit the area, and they now live in several distinct groups within the forest.
Taman Ayun Temple
Taman Ayun Temple is located in Mengwi Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, approximately 18 km from Denpasar City. This temple was built in 1634 by I Gusti Agung Anom, the King of Mengwi. Inside the temple courtyard, you can see nine multi-tiered shrines (meru) dedicated to the deities of Mount Agung and Mount Batukaru. The temple’s serene atmosphere and beautiful gardens make it one of the most charming and important royal temples in Bali.
Bali Coffee Plantation
The Bali Coffee Plantation is one of the island’s fascinating agro-tourism spots, often located in the cool mountain regions. Local Balinese farmers creatively cultivate a variety of coffee plants, with Robusta and Arabica being the most common types grown. Many plantations have been transformed into small tourist attractions, allowing visitors to explore the farm, learn about coffee production, and enjoy free tastings. The most famous and exclusive coffee produced here is Kopi Luwak, made from beans fermented inside the civet’s digestive system—one of the most unique and expensive coffees in the world.
Tanah Lot Temple
Tanah Lot Temple is located in Braban Village, Kediri District, Tabanan Regency, about 29 km from Denpasar. The temple stands majestically on a large black rock formation by the sea. Built in the 16th century, the name Tanah Lot derives from two Balinese words: Tanah meaning “land” or “islet,” and Lot (Lod) meaning “sea,” symbolizing a small island floating on the ocean. This site has been considered sacred since the megalithic era, as evidenced by the presence of ancient stone relics. Today, Tanah Lot remains one of Bali’s most iconic landmarks, especially famous for its breathtaking sunset views.
